How does WOW Fusion work?

The WOW Fusion is a small hand held device, that contains two parts.

A needle head, that consists of 20 surgical steel needles, that are electropolished with nickel and gold plated. The needles are 0.13mm in diameter, (so they are ultra fine, almost the width of a strand of hair.) and 0.6mm in depth.

A vial is attached to the needle head, which contains your own personalised solution that your practitioner will create according to your skin needs discussed during consultation.

The device is then put together, and the practitioner will gently stamp the device into your skin. This allows the delivery of those skin loving ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins, peptides and antioxidants to penetrate beyond the surface of the skin where they can work most effectively.

The treatment works in two ways, by treating the skin from within and also using microneedling to create controlled trauma to the skin. This microneedling (or collagen induction therapy) encourages a wound healing response in the body, creating natural growth factors to be released. It is the release of these growth factors that are responsible for the beneficial effects of the procedure, encouraging hydration, collagen stimulation and cellular renewal.

The WOW Fusion device creates less trauma than traditional microneedling devices, at depths of 0.6mm and 1.0mm, its ultra fine needles, will stimulate regeneration, making it suitable for skin that is sensitive, inflamed or impaired.

What happens during a treatment?

A WOW Fusion treatment is typically a comfortable treatment usually lasting around 35-40 minutes. Most clients report the sensation as mild, tingling or light pricking and is generally well tolerated, The treatment is comfortable without anaesthetic, and is generally not required, however this can be applied if needed, prior to the treatment. This can be discussed at your consultation.

Here is what to expect:

1. Consultation and skin analysis – your practitioner will discuss your skin concerns and goals and tailor the treatment for you. We will discuss what ingredients will benefit your skin the most.
2. Skin cleansing and preparation – The skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove make up, oils and impurities. A clinical sterilizing solution is also used on the skin to remove any bacteria from the skin, prior to needling the skin, to prevent infection.
3. WOW Fusion treatment – the device is gently stamped into the skin, creating micro channels on the surface of the skin and infusing the ingredients into the epidermal/ dermal junction at the same time. The practitioner may perform up to a total of 3 passes over your face with the device.
4. Finish and protect – the remaining serum maybe applied to the skin following treatment. Followed by a mask and SPF. Any product applied to the skin will be absorbed via the microchannels created by the microneedling. Studies indicate that the skin reseals its barrier 1-2 hours post treatment, though the channels remain highly permeable for 24 hours post treatment.

Are there any side effects?

The WOW Fusion treatment is generally considered a safe non-surgical treatment with minimal side effects. Some clients may experience slight redness immediately after treatment, mild sensitivity for a few hours, and light dryness or tightness as the skin adjusts and recovers. Side effects are temporary and usually settle quickly.

You will be provided with full aftercare following your treatment, but it is generally recommended to avoid heavy make up for 24 hours, and avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, saunas, harsh exfoliants or active skincare for 5-7 days post treatment.
